Volca Massaker Orchester
- Electronic/
- Instrumental
Volca Massaker Orchester (VMO) is a collaborative electronic music project founded in 2014, dedicated to live-performed electronic dance music. VMO guides its audience through dense analog sound constructions, created entirely in the moment. All performances are realized exclusively using instruments from KORG’s Volca series. There is no fixed repertoire and no pre-programmed patterns. The music is fully improvised and programmed spontaneously during each performance, ensuring that every concert is unique. VMO operates at the intersection of repetitive electronic structures, industrial-influenced rhythms, and tightly interlocked sequencing. The project emphasizes collective processes, synchronization, and a deliberate reduction of musical material in favor of density, tension, and physical impact. Rather than functioning as a traditional band, Volca Massaker Orchester acts as a functional sound collective in which machines, sequences, and human interaction are treated as equal components—both on stage and in the studio. Current line-up (2026): Maru Rieben (Bern ist überall) Pete Leuenberger (Mathon) Daniel Wihler (Alphatronic) Nicolas Kellner (Digitalis) Annie Rüfenacht (Annie Aries)
