“Celebration of the error” aptly describes Simon Grab’s approach to making music. Working with matrices of electronic feedback circuits, he tames raw noise to find musical balance within randomness. Complete control is neither possible nor desired—the error is part of the method. As in nature, systems are dynamic, never fixed; they rely on feedback to adapt. Grab’s sound lives at the tipping point, stabilising precisely where everything seems about to go off the rails. Treating the status quo as temporary, he captures his circuits in live sessions: all music is recorded straight to two-track, a one-off document of improvisation. No piece can be reproduced. Recent music collaborations: Yao Bobby, Dhangsha, Duma, Petbrick, Deaf Kids, Felinto, Tantão, Francesco Giudici, Tizia Zimmermann, Tapiwa Svosve, Simon Berz, Flo Götte, Werner Hasler, Marc Jenny, David Meier, Antigo, Patrick Kessler. Recent dance/performance collaborations: Simone Aughterlony, Rafał Pierzyński, Aisi Zhou, Pierre Piton, Lika Nüssli, Paula Monesterolo, Miranda Codesal, Jonathan Jaeggi.
