For MRI, Patricia Bosshard and Simon Grab work exclusively with recordings from a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. In the spirit of musique concrète, they preserve the raw radicality of the source; transformation happens through layering and form. The result is a dense, varied universe that moves from pared-back ambient to abrasive noise—sound that seems to reach into the brain’s deepest strata and set molecules dancing. Live, the duo present the material on an immersive surround setup: multiple speakers and subwoofers encircle the audience for a uniquely physical listening experience.
