Under the alias OP Rechts, Mike Reber (b. 1967) began in the late 1980s with body-based performances in the vein of the Viennese Actionists and his first field recordings. Around the same time he started experimenting with the Korg MS-20—still a mainstay of his setup. OP Rechts is a studio project: using sampling, computers, analogue sound machines, voice, tape and any source that makes noise, Reber crafts long, epic soundscapes with the feel of a fictional soundtrack. His debut LP, OP Rechts – Murderer Report (1992), appeared on his own label, Tollerort Organisation, and was recorded entirely with analogue devices. A founding member of Herpes Ö DeLuxe, he has also worked as a producer in projects including Linke Hode Satans, Pendelum Nisum, Tapava Günder, Reverend Beat-Man and the Church of Herpes, and Helios & Hess. Since 1991 he has released or contributed to 25 records.
