OKRA

OKRA is the duo of pianist Oli Kuster (Menschmaschine, Oli Kuster Kombo, Astronauten, Züri West) and musician/sound artist Robert Aeberhard (dadaad, an open tuning; Fitzgerald & Rimini; Trümmer). A concert grand meets raw soundscapes sculpted from field recordings gathered around the world. OKRA dissolves the line between tone and noise—letting pitched piano, unpitched textures and environmental sounds interweave into organic, reduced and fragile music. The result is an enchanting yet quietly unsettling “Traummusik”: a film of acoustic images that pulls the listener inward. Because space is central to their work, the duo often performs in surround, placing speakers behind the audience so the spatial detail becomes physical. Their album OKRA was mixed in surround to preserve and intensify this immersive dimension.
