Pianist Oli Kuster (Menschmaschine, Oli Kuster Kombo, Astronauten, Züri West) and musician/sound artist Robert Aeberhard (dadaad. an open tuning, Fitzgerald & Rimini, Trummer) meet in a special collaboration: OKRA, a duo for piano and sound. A concert grand—refined and time-tested—encounters raw soundscapes built from field recordings gathered across the world. Where tones are periodic, many sounds and noises are irregular; OKRA braid the two into organic, interwoven forms—reduced, fragile, and vividly textural. An enchanting yet unsettling Traummusik emerges: a film of acoustic images that draws the listener into motion. The duo’s sense of space led them to perform in surround, placing speakers behind the audience so the music can be felt as much as heard. Accordingly, the album OKRA is mixed in surround, preserving the project’s spatial richness as a physical listening experience.
