Klaus Janek studied classical double bass with a special focus on 20th-century repertoire. He later became involved in electronic music and has continually expanded his practice toward sound and noise. Simon Berz began as a drummer in rock, punk and jazz; in recent years his focus has shifted to improvised electronic music and noise. He developed a custom setup through DIY hardware hacking and circuit bending, embracing glitches, feedback and distortion. The two met in Berlin years ago and immediately fell into a running conversation about music—one that now unfolds less in words than through their instruments.
