On The Other Side Of The Mirror

Babalon Anon pairs rapid-fire rhyme skills with a contrasting performance-poetry mode he calls “diction adagio,” reflecting on the pain and beauty of human interaction. His songs offer an accessible antidote to rap’s glamorization of violence and commodity worship—equally suited to close listening or a wild night out. Swiss producer Patrick Podage (ex–drum & bass collective Silent Extent), now known for deep house, doesn’t hand over a folder of beats; he crafts arrangements in real time. After collaborating on the multimedia soundtrack Daimonion for Heartcore Collective, Podage and Babalon Anon brought their shared, wide-angle tastes to On the Other Side of the Mirror. In the studio, Babalon Anon sets the pace and mood—sometimes proposing samples—while Podage sculpts multi-genre tracks around the lyrics, iterating with continuous feedback. Vocals laid down, they revisit each tune to add playful details and musical in-jokes, arriving at a distinctive fusion of sound and wordplay. They take the work seriously—but not themselves.
