Album cover: Herpes Ö DeLuxe - Havarie (front)

Havarie is the first full CD release from Herpes Ö DeLuxe—nearly a decade into their life as a band. Unlike much contemporary electronic music, their sound is resolutely handmade: no fully pre-produced sequences or samples. Instead, they use vintage electronics, modified tools (a turntable as instrument), self-built materials such as tape loops, and voice to sculpt grainy, living textures. On stage, everything is tied to the moment. Each performance is a one-off set—never repeated—because spontaneity and interaction between the four players, the room, and the audience are the core of their practice. Beyond conventional concerts, the group has created the musical concept for the theater piece Habgier and regularly scores the “explosion performances” of artist Pavel Schmidt (Solothurn/Munich), appearing at singular venues including the Olympic ski jump in Innsbruck, the European Academy of Fine Arts in Trier, and the Graf Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen. Havarie captures this ethos: tactile electronics, unstable beauty, and the thrill of sound made in real time.
