On his new album, Oli Kuster may appear alone on the cover, but the music tells a different story. A single bass line sets everything in motion, triggering an entire electro-acoustic machinery that drones, rumbles, hums and jitters. Just as the groove settles, fractured breakbeats and dissonant signals disrupt the flow. Developed during the pandemic in deep dialogue with a modular synth, the record captures Kuster’s man–machine symbiosis—an analog construct that seems to breathe, think and dance on its own.
