Neuromodulator spent nine years on the road with a clear mission: to infiltrate listening habits. From the outset the Zurich quartet—Eric Hunziker (guitar, electronics), Christoph Grab (saxophone, electronics), Ephrem Lüchinger (keyboards, electronics) and Marius Peyer (drums, electronics)—has practiced collective “instant composing,” shaping music on the spot and drawing on deep experience from countless projects. Influences from contemporary club music, avant-garde, rock, global traditions and jazz coalesce into a new whole. Electronic sound creation and processing are central tools—from Stockhausen-style ring modulation, filtering and synthesis to live sampling, looping and self-built devices—yielding a volatile, immersive language that treats technology as an instrument in its own right.
