The Road That White Men Tread
- by Bushwac
The present form of a 15-year collaboration between Paed Conca and Steve Buchanan, The Road That White Men Tread folds breakbeat pulse, microtonal reeds, and incisive text into a focused, politically charged whole. Bushwac’s language is hybrid by design—drawing on a wide field of influences while refusing the clichés and siloed “genres” that often fix contemporary and improvised music in place. Dance is built into the sound itself via 2ND LINE, the performance instrument conceived by Buchanan, turning movement into musical structure. The result is music that speaks as clearly as it moves: taut, restless, and cohesive—an album where aesthetics and message lock step.
