Ormea
- by Bigeneric
Following Marco Repetto’s deep dive on Bigeneric’s previous album The Amaranth Fields (Inzec Records 028) into the essences and intoxicating fragrances of plants, his new Bigeneric album Ormea turns to the branching architectures of sonic perception. Snow’s hush becomes driving, primeval rhythm; subtle, untamed, psychedelically sensuous sequences bloom into vivid inner cinema, gently dissolving the here and now. The rocky, sun-drenched Alpine paths above Ormea—a small Piedmontese town bordering Repetto’s native Liguria—were a central catalyst. A wide array of outdoor recordings from his current surroundings, especially Graubünden and Toggenburg (inspired by filmmaker Gitta Gsell), supply organic material that interweaves with the electronics throughout Ormea.
