Night-Wandering
For over a year, Somnambulance have been spinning filaments of electronic guitar and bass into an alchemical, sleep-walking architecture. The result—released on CD by Bern’s Everest Records as Night-Wandering—unfurls across ten tracks where striking Joy Division–like bass lines soon dissolve into dense drones, and shifting atmospheres interlock and bleed into one another. Formerly focused on noise, Zurich musicians Silvan Jeger and Valentin Dietrich have reduced volume and tempo to gain depth. From their noise past they retain an abstract, sequential approach: music that continues in the listener’s head, like the liminal instant before sleep when time unthreads and reality slips from view. Close your eyes at home—or walk the forest at night with headphones—and let Night-Wandering recalibrate your sense of drift.
